Tips for a killer Jamaican Rice and Peas
Cooking rice and peas is not complicated with the main ingredients of rice, kidney beans, coconut milk, salt, pepper and other spices. But there are a few more things you can do to make it really special. Here are Jamaican Eats suggestions:
Sweeten the Pot - A bit of sugar to give your rice and peas a subtle hint of sweetness. Also try adding a pinch of cinnamon.
Milk it – Try margarine, butter, milk in place of coconut milk.
Add flavor – Add strips of bacon or salted beef cut in small pieces for a great flavor boost.
